"Toward a Science of Security"
While today much security research is about defending against the attack du jour, there has been theoretical work in computer security and there are the beginnings of a science base for security. This talk will discuss the kinds of questions one might expect a scince base to address.
It will also give examples of how such questions could be answered. Basic concepts in security, such as attack, policy, and enforcement turn out to be surprisingly subtle to define.

Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft(DFG) is awarding the Heinz Maier Leibnitz Prize 2014 to Professor Dr. Eric Bodden (33). DFG is honoring the computer scientist’s exceptional scientific achievements in the secure software development field.
Dr. Haya Shulman, PostDoc at EC-SPRIDE (European Center for Security and Privacy by Design) of TU Darmstadt has won first prize at the Research Award of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. The award includes prize money of 80,000 Israeli New Shekels, i.e. more than 15,000 Euro.
