Software-Cluster
Birthplace of business software
The Software-Cluster is concentrated around the regions and software development centers of Darmstadt, Kaiserslautern, Karlsruhe, Saarbrücken und Walldorf. CASED, which is based in Darmstadt, acts as the headquarters of the Cluster.
The birthplace of business software lies
in the Cluster region, which has held a globally dominant position since the
70’s with its software innovations: SAP R/3 (SAP AG), ADABAS (Software AG)
and ARIS (IDS Scheer AG). Business software has now become one of the most
important ICT sectors, as it improves the efficiency of companies from all
sectors and in all areas: material management, HR, finance, business management
and marketing, production planning and control, logistics and product lifecycle
management, supply chains and customer relationships. The Software-Cluster is a
leader in the development of software in this area.
