On April 1, 2009, Prof. Baier became the first CASED professor financed through LOEWE at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt. He will initiate research projects for the CASED department “Secure Services” and coordinate knowledge transfer. He will also oversee Ph.D. students from CASED and other cooperative Ph.D. programs.
Prof. Dr. Baier will concentrate on the following areas of research:
- Cryptography using elliptical curves and their application
- Security infrastructures, in particular Public Key Infrastructures
- Security protocols
- Usability and security products
- Malware and bot networks
Short CV:
- Degree in Mathematics and Physics from Universität Würzburg
- Ph.D. at TU Darmstadt and parallel work at Deutsche Bank AG
- July 2002 - August 2004: Managing Director of Darmstädter Zentrum für IT-Sicherheit (DZI)
- September 2004 - March 2009: Professor at FH Bingen
- Since April 2009: Professor of Internet Security at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt
