CASCADE
The acronym CASCADE stands for "Constructive Attacks | Side-Channel Analysis | Secure Design". The research group brings together mathematicians, computer scientists and engineers, attackers and designers, exploiting synergy effects. We are interested in all classes of side-channel analysis (power attacks, timing attacks, cache attacks etc.) and countermeasures. Moreover, we concentrate on the design of secure systems and on new design methodologies. The group was founded at TU Darmstadt in August 2009 and is headed by Prof. Dr. Werner Schindler. Read more
Cryptographic
Protocols Group - CRYPO
The Cryptographic Protocols (CRYPO) group holds strong expertise in the design and analysis of cryptographic protocols with applications to many important fields of information, communication, and computer security. The group is part of the Center for Advanced Security Research Darmstadt (CASED). CRYPO was founded at TU Darmstadt in February 2009 and is headed by Prof. Dr. Mark Manulis. Read more
Secure Mobile
Networking Lab - SEEMOO
Technology has progressed as far as to enable seamless connectivity in all but the most remote places. Yet adequate protection of the dependability and security in mobile networks is lacking. At SEEMOO we for instance investigate and model the potential impact of attacks on mobile and wireless networks as well as on user privacy. To counteract these attacks and mitigate their potential effects, we develop technology that enables dependable, secure, and privacy preserving communications on the move. SEEMOO is headed by CASED-Prof. Dr. Matthias Hollick and is affiliated with CASED. Read more
Smart
Civil Security
Research and development efforts around public and civil security have substantially increased — in the US, these efforts are subsumed under the thematic umbrella ‘homeland security’. A majority of the efforts aim at the use of Information Technology, with a special emphasis on using IT ‘in the field’ (sensor networks, ad hoc communication, wearable IT for first responders, etc.). Much less emphasis is put on command and control centers and on holistic approaches. The Public and Civil Security area focuses on three strategic assets: Integrated infrastructures, Control center oriented approach, Human centered approach. The Smart Civil Security group was founded in December 2009, is headed by Prof. Dr. Max Mühlhäuser. It is affiliated with CASED but financially independent from the LOEWE project.Read more
